Every morning at Cornerstone begins with Scripture, prayer, and song–the Cornerstone Convocation.

The Christian life is not about being perfect; it is about loving God and knowing His forgiveness and salvation as we use the gifts He has given us for His glory.

“Train up a child in the way he should go…”

A quick search of the internet and leadership literature reveals the importance of habits. Habits allow us to fulfill the basic requirements of proper living without thinking so that our time and energy can be devoted to the service of others with the best that we have. Young children are particularly receptive to learning habits. In Lower School, students are taught the habits of proper living and the life of the scholar. From hard work to putting others first through manners, our young students are well-prepared to make a difference in the world with the unique gifts God has given them.

In Middle School students are given both time and space to make decisions that make a difference in their world. Middle School should be a safe place to fail. While consequences are a necessary part of life for both good and bad behavior, we understand that failures are opportunities God gives us to see our need for His salvation, not just in the future, but in the here and now. Something special happens to children when they are put in the crucible of an academically challenging, Christian environment. God opens a window to their souls, and parent, teacher, and headmaster can look inside to help a child grow and change. We also recognize that young people disappoint us at times simply because they are trying to make their way in a world that is strange to them.

As a Christian, academic institution, Cornerstone supports the efforts of families who are raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. We understand that the primary role in spiritual education belongs to parents and the church. We intend to come alongside families to provide a place of education where their efforts are supported. With parents, we desire to produce well-spoken, hard-working, Christian adults who effectively use their gifts to God’s glory in their spheres of influence.
